Nowadays, there are many television advertisements aimed at children. What are the effects of those advertisements on children?Should TV advertisements be controlled?

Therefore, boundaries should be drawn to guide or limit advertisements once children are involved.

4、 once

Therefore, boundaries should be set / lines should be drawn to regulate advertising, including what kind of slogans or graphics are acceptable, as well as what length or times of airing is inappropriate, if an advert is targeted at children.

3、 if an advert is targeted at children这个状语的引导词是if,这个宽泛的“如果”比原句的“一旦”合理。

4、 including what kind of slogans or graphics are acceptable, as well as what length or times of airing is inappropriate

The two maps, as they are put together, show how Grange Park now is different from it was in 1920.

In 1920, visitors could enter the park from either the Arnold Avenue entrance or the Eldon Street one and would see a fountain in the park’s center. West of the fountain was a musical stage, and on the north and south sides of the stage were rose gardens with seats in the vicinity. Visitors would see another rose garden in the east, by the Arnold Avenue entrance, a pond for aquatic plants in the northwestern corner, and a glasshouse by the Eldon Street entrance with seats nearby.

Now, the fountain is gone, and now there is a square rose garden with seats on its four sides. Second, the musical stage is upgraded to an amphitheater for concerts. In addition, visitors entering from Arnold Avenue will see a café and a children’s playground in the corner on their left, and if patrons enter from Eldon Street, they will see a water feature on their right. It is also notable that there is an underground car park near the water feature.

Clearly, the park has changedimmensely.

The two maps illustrate the changed [改造类地图的核心就是change] road access to a city hospital in 2010 compared with 2007.

In 2007, the hospital was in the loop created by the Ring Road and accessible only from Hospital Road, which had an intersection with City Road. A visitor should go north on Hospital Road to enter the building and would see a number of bus stops on both sides of the road. If the visitor arrived by car, the car should turn east at the northern end of Hospital Road and would find the car park on Ring Road.

In 2010, a visitor could take basically the same pathway [描述了两个图之间的关系], despite the few major developments in front of the hospital building. A visitor, going north, would need to pass the roundabout to go on Hospital Road and see a bus station on the left as the replacement of the bus stops, and the car park on the right became only for the staff’s vehicles. Going down the road, there was another roundabout whose eastern exit, on Ring Road, led to the public car park on the east side of the hospital building.

Overall, the change was marked.

1、Fluency & Coherence

2、Pronunciation

3、Grammar

4、Lexical Resources

blob.png

Some people say that economic growth is the only way to end world poverty and hunger. However, others say that economic growth is damaging the environment and should be stopped. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

1. 经济发展的确会带来环境破坏;

As is known to all, the only solution to poverty and hunger is economic growth. However, many people raise objections to economic progress on the ground that it will cause huge damage to the environment.

(2) As is known to all 众所周知

(3) Solution

(4) Raise objections to...

(5) On the ground that... 基于......

It is true, of course, that rapid economic growth often comes at the expense of the environment. This has happened again and again in the world, especially in the developing countries. The relentless urbanisation process, for example, has destroyed numerous natural open spaces and animal habitat, and had the dull concrete buildings in their place. Meanwhile, it is not uncommon at all to see the rivers and streams around paper factories (or other manufacturing factories) are so polluted that the water is no longer drinkable.

(2) Relentless

(3) Habitat

(4) It is not uncommon that...

Yet this does not follow that we could do without economic growth. For one thing, only with fast economic development can people have the opportunities to enjoy a better material life, which is the first-tier need of all people at all times. Though this does not suggest that people's insatiable desire should always be met by developing economy, we can rather safely say that economic growth is often the primary concern for all people, especially those living in poverty and hunger. For another, though economic growth will necessarily bring negative effects on the environment, the effects can well be minimized or even eliminated. Covered with green trees and grasses, many big cities have now attracted birds and other animals back again. The rivers and streams around factories have become clean, too, as purifying technologies are put into use.

(2) Do without... 没有......也接受

(3) For one thing, ...; for another, ...

(4) The first-tier need

(5) Insatiable

(6) Primary 首要的

(7) Eliminated

My opinion, then, is that economic growth is forever needed in spite of its potential risks to the environment. What we ought to do is try to find ways of reducing its effect on the environment, rather than give up economic development altogether.

(2) Potential

(3) Reduce

(4) Altogether
