副词(therefore, thus, however )或者是连接的表达(as a consequence, as a result, because of this, in addition, for example, in contrast)等都不是连词
Children from poor families cannot receive education, therefore, they are more likely to violate the law.
Children from poor families cannot receive education; therefore, they are more likely to violate the law.
Children from poor families cannot receive education, so they are more likely to violate the law.
Young people are more willing to adopt advanced technology. Because they want to find jobs in the hi-tech industry.
Young people are more willing to adopt advanced technology, because they want to find jobs in the hi-tech industry.
介词 (because of, due to, despite, in spite of, of 等)不是连词
The proportion of people who went to the cinema decreased.
The proportion of people decreased.
The proportion of people going to the cinema decreased.
There was a river crossed the area from north to south.
There was a river which crossed the area from north to south.
This causes global temperatures rise.
This causes global temperatures to rise.
This is particulary the case for younger generation, they may lose confidence in the future life.
This is particulary the case for younger generation, who may lose confidence in the future life.
When come to school age, most children spend most of the day in their school with their teachers and classmates.
错误的原因:when 后面要跟完整的句子,when they start school
When they start school, most children spend most of the day at school with their teachers and classmates.

high levels of energy consumption but low levels of greenhouse gas emissions
low levels of energy consumption but high levels of greenhouse gas emissions

Introduction
The pies respectively illustrate an Australian household’s use of energy for different purposes and the household’s emissions of greenhouse gas.
Water heating is not only a large energy consumer but also a large emitter of greenhouse gas. Roughly one-third of a household’s energy consumption is attributed to it, and so is the case with the emissions of greenhouse gas. Contrary to water heating, cooling and lighting consume small portions of energy and emit greenhouse gas that also account for small proportions.
Energy consumed by the refrigerator and other appliances are at low levels, whereas the greenhouse gas emissions are at high levels. The opposite is the case with heating. ←总(general pattern) — 分 (specific figures) → With regard to refrigeration and other appliances, the proportions of emissions are twice of those of energy use: 14 percent to 7 percent and 28 percent to 15 percent. In terms of heating, its emissions, in percentage terms, is only roughly one-third of its energy consumption, which is as much as 42 percent of the total energy use.
Conclusion
Overall, the varying situations between the energy uses are obvious, and so are the varying cases with the greenhouse gas emissions.

(2)如果四级成绩在540分以上,雅思成绩基本可以达到6.0分;
(3)如果四级成绩在580分以上,雅思成绩基本可以达到6.5分;

Describe a time when you decided not to tell a friend the truth.
You should say:
When and where this happened
Who the friend was
Why you decided not to tell this friend the truth
And explain how you felt about not telling this friend the truth.
When mentioning a time when I didn’t tell a friend the truth, it reminds me of a funny story that happened on April Fools’ Day last year. We all know that April Fools’ Day is a holiday full of fun as we celebrate the day just by looking for any opportunity we can to play an elaborate prank on our friends. A lot of the time, the pranks involve telling somebody something outrageous or false and if they’re gullible enough to believe it, we can say “April fools” to let them know that they’re been had by the prank.
So last year, on April Fools’ Day, I was trying to fool my best friend Lisa with a quiz game. The quiz was quite simple, “Are there any penguins in the world that can actually fly?”. And the rule was if she could answer it correctly, I would pay her 100 RMB. If she failed, she needed to pay me 100 RMB. Certainly the answer is no and her answer was no as well. But I told her that her answer was false and showed her the trailer from the BBC explaining the discovery of flying penguins in Antarctica. My friend’s jaw dropped and she gave me 100 RMB reluctantly. I couldn’t help laughing when I got the money and then told my friend it was a joke, the trailer was fake news created by the BBC itself to fool all the audience on April Fools’ Day in 2008.
1. play a joke/trick/prank on sb.
2. gullible adj.
3. fool sb. (into doing sth.)
4. one’s jaw drops
